John was appointed to the Board of the Company as Senior Independent Non-executive Director on 27 July 2009. He became Acting Chairman on 31 January 2010 and was appointed Chairman on 26 May 2010. John served as the Chief Executive Officer of DSG International plc from 1994 to September 2007, having joined DSG as Marketing Director in 1986 and serving as Managing Director of Dixons Stores Group from 1988 to 1992 and Group Managing Director of DSG International plc from 1992 to 1994. He has also served as Chairman of Dreams plc since 2008, as Chairman of Capital & Regional plc since June 2010 and as a director of Dyson James Group Limited since 2007. From May 2007 until the end of 2009, he served as the Senior Independent Non-executive Director of Hammerson plc having joined the Hammerson board as a Non-executive Director in 1999.
